KEN ZEN ICHI DOJO CAPTURES GOLD !

2005 OZAWA CUP RESULTS IN LAS VEGAS

 

 

The Ken Zen Ichi Kan Team displayed outstanding spirit and courage at this year’s Ozawa Cup Karate Tournament, March 25-27 at the Flamingo Hilton in Las Vegas , Nevada.  The event had over 740 participants from 16 countries, and is widely considered the premier traditional karate tournament in the country.

 

Team members from California included Brandon Michaels, Christian Michaels, Julianna Cavendar, Tony Costillano, and Giovanni Mamone.  All of the competitors were selected to represent our dojo with great dignity, respect, courage, and honor.



Christian Gold Medal Winner

 

In one of the most competitive tournaments in the USA, Christian Michaels was a double medal winner, capturing 1st place in kumite and 2nd place in kata. Julianna Cavendar overcame great adversity and showed great courage in capturing 4th place in kumite.

 

Vegas Team

Brandon, Giovanni, and Tony, all had great showings, and made Shihan and the Ken Zen Ichi Kan very proud of them .

 

In addition, Sensei Andy Pacejka of Ken Zen Ichi Utah Dojo, competed in the kumite division and fought a very close match with the eventual winner in his division.

 

Deepak Gold Medal Winner

Deepak Shrestha , from one of Ken Zen Ichi affiliate dojos in Kathmandu, Nepal, where Shihan conducted a seminar, was also a great surprise, taking the gold medal in the men’s black belt lightweight kumite division.
