The Home of Michael Berger's Traditional Japanese Style Karate

Testimonials for Ken Zen Ichi!

At this time I would like to endorse Shihan Michael Berger as one of the
International Karate Association's premiere instructors. His extensive
training in Japan under some of the finest JKA instructors is quite evident
as his teaching style is very reflective of traditional Japanese instruction. The spread of karate in the United States has been great for the art of karate but in many cases the teaching methods have deviated from the traditional methods taught in Japan. Michael has preserved these training methods and brought them to the United States. He has trained at the premiere karate college in Japan: Takushoku University. The Takushoku University is known as the alma mater of many of the JKA karate legends in history. Michael's great demonstration of physical and mental strength and discipline is in part a result of his training at Takushoku. He received his Shodan from world reknown JKA instructor Nakayama. Michael most recently earned his Rokudan (6th degree black belt) from the IKA and it was well deserved. His constant demonstration of strength, sprit, and respect is a model for my organization.

Over the years Michael has been a pillar of support for the IKA organization
with several training trips a year to the IKA Headquarters. He has been extremely supportive of all IKA endeavors and we are greatly appreciative of
his efforts. His understanding of Zen in combination with his martial arts
study makes him unique in the United States. His understanding of the mental
aspects of martial arts enables him to teach the martial arts in a manner,
which surpasses many of his peers. He has embraced the Gosoku Ryu style and
has been solely responsible for the establishment of Gosoku Ryu in the state
of Utah. Many of his students have participated and won several regional tournaments, largely in part to the instruction they have received from Michael.

We are proud to have Michael as a part of our organization and wish him
well in all future endeavors.
