In the traditional karate of Japan the highlight of the year is
the seasonal Gasshuku , or special training camp.
Karate-ka gather together in the solitude of nature for an extended
period of hard training. This intensive training period strengthens
the spirit, and builds friendships that last forever. At the same
time while relaxing in a beautiful setting the participants enjoy
being at one with nature.
Come experience an authentic Japanese Gasshiku in the pristine
mountains of Utah at the famous Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort.The
event is held annually and attracts interest from karate enthusiasts
worldwide.

Friendly and first-class, The Inn offers all the comforts of home
including kitchens and fireplaces in most units. Accommodations
vary from single bedrooms to studios to a studio/loft with attached
bedroom. Other amenities at The Inn include a newly built pool and
hot tub complex, saunas and equipment lockers.

The Cliff Spa has won many many awards, including having been recognized

currently occupies 28,000 square feet offering 20 individualized
treatment rooms, workout facilities featuring Kaiser pneumatic resistance
equipment, bikes, treadmills, climbers, free weights, a eucalyptus
steam room, saunas, movement studio, solarium, and a 15 meter rooftop
swimming pool, whirlpool and sun deck.
Its two level design brilliantly perches the Spa atop the award
winning Cliff Lodge while allowing for all the amenities of a world-class
facility. Its scale and stunning location made it the first facility
of its kind in North America, affording breath-taking panoramic
views of Little Cottonwood Canyon whether receiving a treatment,
working out, or just relaxing from a vigorous day on the mountain.

Throughout the Gasshuku, world
renowned guest instructors teach in the areas of kata,
kihon and kumite, weapons training, self-defense, ju-jitsu, grappling,
and Zen meditation. Training is held three to four times a day,
with various lectures and entertaiment as options for the evening
hours.
Rank testing recognized by the International Karate Association,
headed by Grandmaster Soke Takayuki Kubota, is held at the end of
the event. All participants will receive an official stamped and
signed certificate of participation (suitable for framing), a camp
t-shirt, and training notebook.

Registration
The pre-registration price of the three-day training camp includes
accomodations. A full refund will be given if cancellation is made
by June 10th, otherwise there will be a 50% cancellation fee. An additional
25% fee will be added on to the full amount for those who register
the day of the camp. Camp T shirts, jackets, etc. will not be available
for those who register the day of the camp. Occupancy rates are based
upon Gasshuku participants only. It is the responsibility
of the participant to find roomates to share, otherwise you will be
charged according to the number of occupants in your room. In previous
camps, Shihan Berger has generously provided additional surprises
for the participants and their families such as tram passes, spa passes,
and all day passes for the Alpine Slide, ZipRider & Euro-Bungy. This
is not to be expected. We highly encourage you to register WELL in
advance for this Gasshuku as we fill up early again! To pre-register,

For family members of the participant NOT enrolled in the camp..(such
as parents of a enrollee) there is a $50 add-on per person to share
facilties and attend all functions for the duration of the camp.
For example, an enrollee would pay the single room rate of $395
plus $50 for one parent or $100 for two parents and so on.
